Mr Fry Dog Days of Summer mascotDogs used for therapy bring comfort and joy to residents

Arizona Greyhound Rescue has a fun event planned for August 17, 2013 from 4 to 7 pm, to raise awareness of sight hounds as therapy dogs. We’re inviting our friends and members of the community to join us at the Dog Days of Summer hosted by Sunrise (senior living facility) at River Road, 4975 N. 1st Avenue, Tucson. What a fabulous way to cool off from the 110 degree heat and to meet Mr. Fry, the canine therapy manager at Sunrise.

Mr. Fry greets the residents each morning and provides them comfort by just being there to love him, walk him, and being someone who will listen to everything they say. Dog Days is a human only event. Tickets are $25 per person in advance and $30 per person at the door. They can be purchased at our website (www.azgreyhoundrescue.org) or Sunrise at River Road.

Guests will sample wines from by Catavinos Wine Shoppe & Tasting Room, and enjoy a variety of appetizers skillfully prepared by the chefs at Sunrise. Live entertainment, a gourmet cake auction, a raffle and silent auction complete the evening.

Tannya Gaxiola is the featured Guest of Honor. Tannya is very active in the Southern Arizona community, serving as AGR’s Treasurer. In 2009 she founded QuikHelp, which provides low-cost legal services to Southern Arizona’s residents. She is currently the University of Arizona’s Special Advisor to the President for Public Outreach, and she adopted two AGR greyhounds.
