A completed Ben's Bell

Several hundred Tucsonans attended Together Tucson today at the U of A Mall. Participants lounged in the grass listening to music and guest speakers, painted tiles in the Ben’s Bells tent, and strolled through the nonprofit booths. The event was sponsored by the nonprofit organization Greater Tucson Leadership. I was completely impressed by the volunteers for Ben’s Bells and the Greater Tucson Leadership’s current participants and alumni. The were all bubbling with smiles and energy. Greater Tucson Leadership is a nonprofit dedicated to educating future leaders. The 10 month program features issue-oriented discussions led by community leaders, leadership training and practice, and a focus on social service.  I sat down with a current participant who told me how much she was enjoying the program, and how she had benefited from hearing about the issues from the leaders within the political, justice, immigration, and education communities. Her enthusiasm was infectious. Look for a post about the GTL on this blog soon.
