Ironwood Tree Experience Challenges and Prepares Tucson Teens

| November 16, 2011

Every once in a while I run across a program that really catches my attention. The Ironwood Tree Experience, a teen outreach program of the Tucson branch of Prescott College, did just that. It’s a blend of physical and group challenges, Eco-learning, community action, and all out fun.

Teens can register for beginning-level Eco programs, Get Outside! and Get Experience!, Intermediate-level Eco programs Expeditionay Experience! or the Mentorship program, and demonstrate their new competencies in an Epic Experience! or even go Global to Costa Rica  in the Advanced-level Eco program. Don’t have time for a multi-week program? Sign your teen up for a day-long Eco-skills or Community Action project working on GreenLots and KidsCorridor projects.

All of these experiences are guided by experienced naturalists and Prescott College staff. It’s a great fit, Prescott College has a number of environmental, adventure education, and  community development programs and degree offerings.

Introduce your teen to these awesome character building programs that teach respect for the environment and community. Be sure to visit the ITS Facebook page and give it a “Like” also! Enjoy this video of ITS and Youth Service Day at the 4H High Ropes Course.
