SAVMA is a Tucson based nonprofit comprised of local volunteer coordinators and corporate volunteer program managers. Members meet once a month for a networking lunch featuring either a presenter or an open discussion. Lisa Hopper, CEO and founder of World Care, was the featured guest this week. Lisa, who started World Care from her garage, talked about her vision of taking the massive hospital waste that she saw in her work in the medical field, and funneling that waste to where it would do some good. She also spoke to the need for government to get behind nonprofits that provide resources for the community in times of disaster. World Care is now an international organization that provides a working model for others worldwide.
