The Music of Woodstock Returns to Tucson, Benefits KXCI Community Radio

| August 3, 2012

Four years ago, KXCI began a new tradition by inaugurating KXCI Celebrates Woodstock. Every August since, we’ve dusted off our vinyl and 8-tracks, our platform shoes and bell bottoms to celebrate the music of 40 years ago. This year, we continue the tradition with “KXCI Celebrates 1972”. This all ages benefit concert will feature local musicians playing sets from the albums that rocked 1972. All proceeds support the KXCI Community Radio.

On Saturday August 25th, ten performers will take the stage at the Rialto Theatre starting at 5:30 pm. Performers, artists, and albums include:

Mik Garrison – Stevie Wonder’s “Talking Book”,
Run Boy Run – The Band Rock of Ages (Levon tribute)
Roll Acosta- Al Green-Let’s Stay Together
Nancy McCallion – “I Can See Clearly Now?” (Johnny Nash)
Crosscut Saw- Allman Brothers Eat a Peach
Boreas – Randy Newman “Sail Away”
Downtown Saints (Chris Holiman) Harvest by Neil Young
Logan Greene Electric – Big Star’s #1 Record
Kevin and Tanishia Hamilton- tba

Feel free to dust off your vintage 1972 attire, pack up the kids in the back of the station wagon and head to the Rialto Theatre. Consider this as part of Tucson’s birthday month, celebrating both our 237 years as a city and our 4,000 years of community.
