Tip A Cop Night Raises Money for Special Olympics

| March 20, 2012

On March 28, Marana Cops converge on the Marana Texas Roadhouse to play host to diners and take tips for local Arizona Special Olympics programs. The event runs from 4:30 to 9:30pm.

Marana Officers have raised over $18,500 in the 7 years of the Tip-A-Cop event. It’s apparent that the Special Olympians hold a special place in the hearts of Marana’s law enforcement family. Sgt. Will Hess ¬†tells me, “the event brings more than money to the cause, it brings awareness about these young adults coping with their individual challenges.”

The event is very informal and officers will be on hand to visit with diners, answer questions, and , of course, take tips. The Pima County Regional Bomb Squad, SWAT Team and the Marana Traffic Squad will have vehicles and motorcycles on display. The guests of honor, the Special Olympians, will be on hand to greet everyone coming to support the event.

This year there will also be a fundraising auction. Up for sale will be several PSP gaming packages, a carbon Trek 5500 road bike and a Trek 1000 model among other items.

Visit Special Olympics Arizona on the web and on Facebook. Sign up to volunteer at the  next Tucson event, a track & field competition at Amphi High School, March 31 at 8am.

The Texas Roadhouse is located at 8450 N Cracker Barrel Road, near Cortaro and I10.
