Tohono Chul Park Spring Plant Sale Offers Desert Beauties Friendly to Tucson

| March 24, 2012

If you are looking for a spring plant sale… I mean if you are really looking for a spring plant sale, look no further than  Tohono Chul Park for the biggest and best Spring Plant Sale Tucson has to offer.

The 2012 Spring Plant Sale begins on March 28 with a Members Only Preview Sale. The event opens to the public on March 31 and April 1 (Saturday and Sunday). Members not only get first pick , but also enjoy a 10% discount on all purchases  – and there is no sales tax for anyone shopping at the Park. Of course, members get discounts on all Museum Shop purchases and classes as well as free access to the Park. Family memberships start at $50 per year.

Tohono Chul Park is active in cultivating and promoting arid adapted and regionally native plant species that are eco-friendly, providing habitat and shelter for desert animals and birds, and also thrive in our arid area. Plants are also appropriate for desert climes and soil compositions, important issues for successfully creating that great backyard habitat.

This year the featured plant is the “Flush of Spring”, which produces beautiful sprays of pink blossoms in the spring. There will be plenty of knowledgeable plant people there to assist shoppers with garden questions and advice for those wanting to attract hummingbirds or butterflys.

This event is a major fundraiser for the Park, which is fully self-supporting. The Spring Plant Sale is held in the propagation area, accessed off of Northern Ave, on the east side of the Park.
