Tucson School Supply Drives

| July 25, 2011

Tucson Values Teachers and Walgreens are collecting supplies August 1-15. Supplies can be dropped off at any Walgreens store in Southern Arizona. Last year they collected $71,000 worth of supplies, supplies that might otherwise have come out of a teacher’s pocket. The Community Finance Corporation has kicked in a generous $25,000 grant, and Walgreens is matching it with $25,000 worth of supplies.

It’s almost time for kids to go back to school and lots of kids are going to be short of supplies. This is a list of several organized drives where of backpacks, notebooks, folders, 3 ring binders, and other school supplies are welcome. Some charities are also accepting gift cards to shoe stores and department stores like Target and Wal-Mart. Of course, cash is always good as well, since some of these charities will also clothe and feed the kids. It’s definitely something to get behind and dig deep Tucson. Here are some that I know of, comment below if you know of others.
