Volunteer Southern Arizona Announces Winning Volunteers

Volunteer Southern Arizona has released the names of this year’s winners who will be recognized for their outstanding volunteer service at the Celebration of Service award ceremony on November 17.

Local volunteers and volunteer managers, including nonprofit board members and corporate volunteer programs, were submitted as candidates in various categories over the past several months. The winners are:

  •  Volunteer Impact Awards (Adult)
    • Economic Security – Bob Henry, Interfaith Community Services
    • Education – Albert Trice, Junior Achievement
    • Environment – Marilyn Hanson, Pima Co. Parks & Recreation/Arizona Native Plant Society
    • Health – Don Kimball, Interfaith Community Services
  • Volunteer Impact Awards (Youth)
    • Education – Katie Morgan, Orange Grove Middle School
  • Outstanding Civic Organization
    • National Society of Black Engineers, Tucson Chapter
  • Outstanding Business Employee Volunteer Programs
    • IMS Tucson/IMS Cares
    • Raytheon – Rays of HOPE/Bright Tomorrows
  • Outstanding Nonprofit Board of Directors
    • SciEnTeK-12 Foundation
  • Ellen Hargis Award for Excellence in Management of Volunteer Programs
    • Sandi Brickley, Interfaith Community Services
  • Community Volunteers of the Year
    • Olivia Rose Larsen (Youth) – Therapeutic Riding of Tucson
    • Karen Christensen (Adult) – Make a Wish Foundation / Big Brothers Big Sisters
The Celebration of Service gala will be held at the Arizona Theater Company’s Temple of Music and Art at 330 S. Scott, 5 to 7pm on November 17. The event promises to be a fun and lively celebration of volunteerism in our community. Tickets are $35. For reservations call 520.881.3300 x128.
